SAM JONES
Sam has been around the weighing industry since entering the family business, Precision Instruments, as a young adult. As a small business Precision Instruments understood and appreciated many of the challenges that the weighing federations’ members face.
Precision Instruments was sold to Northern Balance in 2016, where Sam spent some time before working as a consultant to UK Weighing Federation members, assisting with accreditations and certification, as well as internal and external legal metrology auditing.
Sam joined OHAUS in 2019, and whilst this is a far larger business, my product and support roles are focussed on small, medium and large businesses within the weighing industry.
During his career in the weighing industry, he achieved several significant milestones, such as ISO 17025 accreditation, ISO 9001 certification, and successful conformity to Module D of 2014/31/EU (Legal Verification). In his current role at OHAUS, he continues to successfully support businesses within the weighing industry, developing new products and helping people understand the unique challenges of our sector.
His experience working with the frameworks that govern the weighing industry has given him a comprehensive understanding of the legal and regulatory landscape. This understanding will enable him to effectively assist the board in lobbying Government organisations on behalf of UK Weighing Federation members.
He has been a member of the UK Weighing Federation for many years, already actively contribute to topics that are mutually beneficial for its members, and participating in discussions that create growth in the industry whilst showing a commitment to standing up for what is right. He has a well-rounded knowledge of different types of businesses that make up the UKWF membership, and always partakes in meetings with consideration for the entire membership.
Sam was appointed to the board of UKWF in April 2024
