ANDY GODDARD

Andy has worked in the weighing industry since 2016: firstly, as a Type-Approval Engineer for the UK notified body, NMO, then as the Senior Approvals Engineer assessing different weighing and measuring instruments against legal requirements and issuing certificates, running training programs, sitting on standards committees.

He is currently working as the Senior Compliance Manager for Marel Ltd, within R&D ensuring static and dynamic weighing instruments are compliant with legal requirements globally, running training programs, sitting on standards committees representing Marel and CECIP.
Developing and delivering a training program for EU Notified Bodies on how to test and examine a non-automatic weighing instrument. Gaining access to new markets for Marel’s weighing instruments including Vietnam, Namibia, India, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico. Heading Marel’s global UKCA/CE strategy. He had a key role developing WELMEC software guidance documents and US NTEP catchweighing requirements and currently chairs the OIML committee drafting future software requirements pushing through massive improvements.

Andy has experience working within the government (department for business) advising policy departments and working on international standards collaborations. He has a deep understanding of the workings of government and legislative mechanisms. He continues to successfully influence global weighing standards developments within WELMEC, OIML, and US NCWM and is an active participant in lobbying organisations UKWF and CECIP; He is well-known and respected for his expertise in these groups with his deep technical knowledge of the design and production of weighing instruments as well as the myriad of international weighing laws, standards and guidance documents. He is adept at steering standards development and regulator policy. and is keen to sharpen UKWF’s focus onto the most valuable areas of activity where our impact can be greatest.
